The Children’s Hospital Trust was established in 1994 to fundraise for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital – the largest stand-alone tertiary hospital in sub-Saharan Africa, dedicated entirely to children. In 2011 the Trust expanded its fundraising reach beyond the Hospital’s doors to impact more broadly on the quality of healthcare for children at more community touch-points.
100% of all donations go directly to the Hospital and prioritised child healthcare needs, and not a single cent is spent on administration costs.
The Red Cross Children’s Hospital does not operate in isolation, but rather within a health ‘ecosystem’ that starts at a community clinic level and progresses to specialist hospital care. A child’s journey through the healthcare system is therefore often dependent on the quality of care they receive from more than one medical intervention.
Through funding gaps in paediatric healthcare, the Children’s Hospital Trust is able to impact more broadly on the quality of healthcare for many more children – giving them the hope of a second chance at childhood.
The Hospital’s stature far outweighs its 260 000 annual patient visits. It holds the hope of a healthy childhood, a parent’s faith in healing, and a medical professional’s gift of prevention and cure for tomorrow’s most precious resources – our children.Fundraise for this Charity
